Fred on the foley stage. Detailed foley with exceptional character to the sound was a signature of his work.

Here Fred works a bicycle to perform some of his own prop foley.

Getting just the right sound out of a car door. Sometimes being "hands on" with foley isn't quite enough to do the job-- note the kneepads and boots as well!

The mischievous look in his eyes suggests that Fred is taking just the right amount of dramatic license with this length of chain.

Fred and his wife, sound editor Michele Sharp, at an MPSE awards dinner.

Fred out recording some of Sid Stembridge's noisier weapons.

The quintessential Fred Brown pose -- transfering sound to mag film on his own portable dubber.
