Presently, Dr. Bernard is an active professor and researcher at Loyola Marymount University. Along with teaching courses, he is heavily involved in the study of Motivation between his own on-campus lab and the Society for the Study of Motivation.

Dr. Bernard previously served as the president of the Society for the Study of Motivation; an international effort for researchers collaborating and studying Motivation.
