Changes to my instructional methods

To help show students the role of reflection, I have tried to incorporate more reflective exercises

I changed my course structure to follow more of a learning cycle/ constructivist approach. We begin each topic with concrete observations from which we formulate the physics concepts. I either model this investigation process for them or design activities which guide them through the logic.

I am working on converting these model building activities to electronic format which would allow for branching based on their responses. The follow up questions would be specifically tailored to the student's response. The purpose would be to provide the students with a reflective voice which would then coach them through questions such as "what implications does my conclusion have?"

All of this can be considered making the "hidden curriculum" more explicit.
