Progress from the summer

The first prototype was tested with the students enrolled in physics during summer session I and II.

The students who tested the first tutorial were universally positive about the Socratic design.

One student said that the feedback and follow-up questions “helped because they gave more information instead of just answering the question.”

Another commented that the feedback helped her understand why a choice was wrong and helped her to deduce which was the correct choice.

Generally, the students commented that their thinking matched what PhAQ provided.

The survey of epistemologies and beliefs was refined.

There were too few students, and too many bugs in the software, to see any correlations between student epistemologies and performance.
