  Gauss' Law- finding the electric field from a symmetric charge distribution

Last time we talked about the procedure one uses to find the elctric field via Gauss' Law.

(24-17P) A very long, thin wire has a uniform linear charge density of 50 mC/m.  What is the electric field at a distance 2.0cm from the wire?

(24-19P) A charge of -30mC is distributed uniformly throughout a spherical volume of radius 10cm.  Determine the electric field due to this charge at a distance of a) 2.0cm and c) 20.0 from the center of the sphere.  (Yes, we're skipping part b.)
