Physics 101- Introduction to Mechanics
- A copy of the textbook as well as Student Solutions Manual are now on reserve at the library. The manual has (rough) solutions for many odd problems- useful when studying for tests.
- Vectors
- A vector is a quantity with both a length and a direction.
- Vectors can be described by a series of numbers (components) or by a direction and length (magnitude).
- We can add or subtract vectors graphically or numerically.
- 2-D motion
- Much more common than 1-D motion.
- May appear to be more complicated, but actually involves no new physics.
- Each component can be assumed to be independent of each other.
