Math Concentration for Liberal Studies Majors

Students concentrating in mathematics should select their coursework in consultation with their assigned Math Concentration Advisor. Contact Cathy Herrera, Administrative Assistant, Mathematics, UNH 2728, 310-338-2774 to find out the assigned Math Concentration Advisors. For additional information on the concentration, contact Dr. Jacqueline Dewar, UNH 2775, 310-338-5106, jdewar@lmu.edu, who oversees the concentration.

Mathematics (MATH) - 12 units:

It is highly recommended that MATH concentration students take MATH 301 and 302, Mathematical Ideas for Future Teachers I, II (prerequisite courses for these courses are MATH 111 or 120 or 112 or 122 or 131, and MATH 107).

Alternately, a minor in Mathematics will satisfy the area of concentration and, in addition, provide the student with a supplemental credential. However, a minor in MATH requires from 23-27 semester hours, few of which are represented in the Liberal Studies MATH concentration. Students interested in a minor should consult with one of the Math concentration advisors in the Mathematics Department.
