Here I want to provide an overall analysis of the projects. Three of the five project groups had enormously successful experiences. Of the other two groups, it seems that two (Mary and Ellen) of the five students learned a great deal from the project worked. Thus, overall, I would say that eleven of the fourteen students had successful project experiences, while three students did not. Not surprisingly, of the three that did not have good experiences, two of the students were among the very weakest in the class, and in many respects appeared to have written off higher level mathematics from early on.
Analyzing our learning outcomes, the projects mostly addressed process goals, although one content goal was included. Each of the links includes a brief report on whether I thought the goal was met by the project and why I think this.
